Narrow-Web Cold Foil

Cold foils for narrow web printing

Foil transfer occurs inline as for sheet-fed printing and can be easily integrated into the printing process.

Application

The main application for cold foiling in narrow web printing is plastic self-adhesive labels, mainly polyethylene or polypropylene labels, paper labels, tube laminates and folding boxes.

Foils

CV-F & CV-FP are our standard grades of web-fed cold foils for narrow-web printing.

Colors & Shades

Silver/Gold, other metallic shades/colors & holographic designs are available by request

Technology

The cold foiling technology became feasible owing to the expansion of application of UV-curable materials in graphic printing. Therefore, the compatibility of cold foil with UV curable paints and varnishes is important in all stages of its application, including overprint. Our foil, both silver and golden, meets the criteria set for a modern cold foil: edge accuracy, covering capacity and resistance to puncture when printing at appropriate speed and maintaining standard curing lamps power at the same time.

PPF cold foils can be applied to a blank or printed surface and can be over-printed allowing the designer or brand owner a variety of exciting options when creating their label.

Cold foiling is now commonly used in the label printing industry and the majority of applications utilize UV flexographic printing, however, it can also be used with UV web-fed offset printing or UV web-fed letterpress printing.

Description in detail

Type CV-FP

Properties

This cold foil is over printable with both conventional and most UV inks. It is high glossy and characterizes in excellent board coverage. It is very popular for high operating speed and well suitable for the UV-adhesives listed. Applicable on a wide range of substrate such as non-absorbent surface, papers and all types of label stock.

Applications

For wide range of papers and all types of label stock.

Stamping conditions (type of machine, stamping condition)

Web fed label printers with a cold foiling station, running speed 50 – 70M/per minute, UV lamp output higher 180W/cm. UV adhesive weight: label films 3.0 – 6.0g/m2, non-absorbent paper 5.0 – 8.0g/m2. Ensure that you use appropriate adhesive, ex. Flint XSYS, Paragon, JS, Northwest, Select, Sun Chemical cold foil UV adhesives.
